My approach is interdisciplinary tracing the links between sociology, anthropology, development studies and economics along with graphic design and advertising. My research focuses on the visual documentation of international advertising and signage and also reflects a passion for travel. Publications include general studies of global advertising, case studies of contemporary advertising in Russia, Vietnam, India, China and Thailand as well as studies of the specific target audiences of women and children. Another area of interest is that of gender and signage as a representation of local culture, specifically in toilet signage.
My current research project is a book on Advertising, globalisation and the BRIC economies to be published by Routledge, London.
