"Google Sites makes it easy for anyone to create and manage simple, secure group websites. Getting started is easy, and there are a number of helpful templates. More than just a visual theme, site templates can include site structure and navigation, custom page templates, embedded gadgets, and more. Google Sites is powerful enough for a company intranet, yet simple enough for a family website."
"Pachyderm is an easy-to-use multimedia authoring tool. Designed for people with little multimedia experience, Pachyderm is accessed through a web browser and is as easy to use as filling out a web form. Authors upload their own media (images, audio clips, and short video segments) and place them into pre-designed templates, which can play video and audio, link to other templates, zoom in on images, and more. Once the templates have been completed and linked together, the presentation is published and can then be downloaded and placed on the author's website or on a CD or DVD ROM. Authors may also leave their presentations on the Pachyderm server and link directly to them there. The result is an attractive, interactive Flash-based multimedia presentation."

"Thus, a clear overview and classification of the disadvantages associated with visual depictions of information has so far not been provided. Such an overview could provide guidelines to assist designers in avoiding potential problems caused by visualizations (Eppler 2007), (Fong, Valerdi et al. 2007).
The starting point of our research is the analysis of visualization studies from different research domains. Many of these disciplines focus on the benefits of graphic representations for various application contexts. In a few of these articles, however, we have found single disadvantages or short lists of visualization risks. A more complete and structured understanding of the negative effects of visualization is also relevant for increasing the designers' visual literacy and therefore their ability to produce high-quality visualizations. The aim of this paper is not to diminish the potential of visualization. It is rather an attempt to deepen and structure our understanding of the possible limitations of visualizations. This is relevant not only to avoid or detect mistakes in the production and interpretation of visualizations, but also to support designers' decision on the use or modification of the appropriate visual format."

"Symphony CMS is a beautifully minimal PHP+MySQL-based open source content management system that uses XML and XSLT as its backbone.
On the surface, Symphony is similar in function to ExpressionEngine, Textpattern, WordPress, or Drupal. While Symphony is certainly capable of running a standard website or blog, its conceptual elegance and focus on data structures puts it in a unique position, straddling the line between a CMS and a full web application framework such as Django or Ruby on Rails.
Symphony’s layered infrastructure allows the site developer complete control over every aspect of the site building process. Though this is initially intimidating, its flexibility and power is extraordinary. Fortunately, the documentation is solid (and improving), and the community is extremely responsive and helpful.
Symphony is compatible with modern Apache or Litespeed web servers. (See the Installation Guide for complete server requirements and compatible hosts.) You can install it either via a .zip package (easier), or by cloning the offical Git repository (preferred.)"
