Notts TV: new local television for Nottingham

"Notts TV Ltd is a consortium led by Confetti Media Group, Nottingham Post Media Group, Nottingham Trent University and Inclusive Digital Ltd. Together the group has the skills and experience needed to run a TV station for Nottingham – including expertise in TV news, launching and managing TV channels, local journalism and programme production, technical and engineering issues, advertising and marketing, education and training.

Notts TV provides Confetti students with a great opportunity to work in a real TV environment, providing content and programming for news, sport, business, politics and a range of issues that matter to local residents.

The station will utilise the news reporting expertise of the Nottingham Post Group and involve students from both Nottingham Trent Universities' Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism and Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies."

Animated Presentation Describing Grade-Based Assessment at NTU

"For the 2012 / 13 academic year, NTU is introducing a new scheme for assessing undergraduate students' work. The scheme is known as grade–based assessment or GBA.

A major advantage of GBA is that it ensures that there is a direct link between the expected learning outcomes of the part of the course being assessed and what you, the student, have demonstrated in the assessment. This short video explains this.

The specific arrangements relating to the assessment of a module will be set out in module documentation. Previously, assessed work was awarded a mark, usually a percentage. Following the introduction of GBA, each piece of assessed work will be awarded one of 17 grades.

You will be informed about what is expected of you in order to achieve a particular grade. This information will mean that feedback on your work will be clear and you will be able to evaluate your progress towards your final degree classification."

Cultural Olympiad UK East Midlands: World Event Young Artists

"World Event Young Artists (WEYA) is the first of its kind and will take place in the cultural city of Nottingham, England in September 2012.

This global event will showcase a selection of the best international creative talent, across a spectrum of artforms, in one city, providing an opportunity for 1000 artists from 100 nations to join together and share their creativity on an international platform.

The World Event will be a chance for international exchange on a global scale, bringing the city to life; it is as much about intercultural dialogue across political borders as it is about the practice of young artists.

This unique combination of factors will ensure an unforgettable experience for all who take part and its audiences. Its public programme and web resources will offer space for collaborative development, workshops, debates and symposiums across a mixture of structured and informal settings. Artists will take part in workshops and interactive engaging sessions which will be delivered by an exciting range of creative individuals and artform specialists, exclusively tailored for young artists of the 21st century.

This once in a lifetime event will thrive on discussion and collaboration with like minded artistic talents from across the globe and aims to encourage future partnerships.

World Event Young Artists 2012 is hosted by UK Young Artists and supported by Arts Council England, Cultural Olympiad East Midlands, Nottingham Trent University and Nottingham City Council."
