Inventive paper folding parkour animation

"The brief was to create a visual reaction inspired by a chosen sub-culture, in this case, Parkour. Parkour is an urban ‘free-running’ discipline, originated from France. Its aim is for its traceur to overcome obstacles within the path, by adapting physical movement to traverse the urban environment, using physical abilities like jumping and climbing. The intention of this animation is to capture the movement and physical beauty of the traceur while traversing through the environment. This viral is aimed to create an awareness for parkour as an artform, rather than a sport. Credits to Noel Lee for filming and editing, and lecturer Kevin Barrios for the inspiration"

Javan Ivey: My Paper Mind

"An experimental animation exploring the "Stratastencil" technique that I've devised. Inspired by the Stratacut technique, Stratastencil is an additive process. Stratacut removes material to reveal another layer, while this technique adds another layer while still showing the layer before it."

Papermation by Jen Stark

"Adding yet another string to Stark's bow are stop motion animations in which paper is further imbued with new significance. Often accompanied by light electronic soundtracks, the looped kaleidoscopic films draw viewers through benign wormholes of living color.

At an exhibition of Jen Stark's one does not so much view work as observe extraordinary behavior in a state of stasis. With surprisingly simple means the artist succeeds in extending our world by venturing a furtive, unspoiled dimension of sentient forms.

Referencing geometry, meteorology and drawing freely from her own inimitable individuality she refines her message with economical yet expounding titles. Often scientifically and biologically dependable they call to mind established truths in nature and fortify our impressions of them with a greater sense of purpose."
