Elite Online Courses for Cash and Credit

"A consortium of 10 top–tier universities will soon offer fully online, credit–bearing undergraduate courses through a partnership with 2U, a company that facilitates online learning.

Any students enrolled at an 'undergraduate experience anywhere in the world' will be eligible to take the courses, according to Chip Paucek, the CEO of 2U, which until recently was called 2tor. The first courses are slated to make their debut in the fall.

After a year in which the top universities in the world have clambered to offer massive open online courses (MOOCs) for no credit, this new project marks yet another turning point in online education. It is the first known example of top universities offering fully online, credit–bearing courses to undergraduates who are not actually enrolled at the institutions that are offering them."

"retaggr [was before it closed] a widget–based service that enables active web users to link all their various site–based profiles into a single, always updated, interactive business card that can be attached to virtually any type of content or interaction the user has on the web.

The interactive profile card can be linked to or embedded anywhere online, including in email signatures, blog entries, other text, or as part of online profiles on sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, twitter, and others. It lets you leave a summary of the way you define yourself on the web anywhere you want to share it."

HiBROW: a collection of videos for arts enthusiasts

"The British based film–maker Don Boyd, HiBROW's founder, has gathered a wide range of established professionals in the international arts industries, to be called Curators to create content exclusively for HiBROW. Three years of research and development has resulted in the successful production of over 80 hours of professionally produced High Definition video. HiBROW's content will be refreshed every month, and is radically different to current broadcast television and other online content. Available free, it is professionally produced, contemporary and original. With unique access our teams have captured behind–the–scenes rehearsals, work in progress and interviews. HiBROW has relationships with some of the world's great arts institutions and is building new ones with those who want to use our platform to expose larger audiences to their work. These embrace a very broad range of international artistic talent including Vasily Petrenko, Russia's young conductor, Dominic Hill, artistic director of Glasgow's Citizens Theatre, Newton Aduaka, Nigeria's young film director, Raf Bonachela, Spain's great choreographer, Gavin Turk, the British artist, Margaret Attwood, Canada's great novelist, and Britain's great spy author John Le Carré. Their contributions have allowed HiBROW to fashion intimate films of entire performances of new plays, concerts, exhibitions, and literary events all of which have subsequently received glowing critical reviews."

Rushes Soho Shorts: short film competition

"We are a not–for–profit festival celebrating the wealth of talent working across all genres of short film including live action drama, documentary, animation, music video, and work that pushes boundaries including online or mobile content, title sequences, and idents.

The work of newcomers and established filmmakers is promoted by screening work at cinemas, screening rooms and cafes throughout Soho and London's West End. In conjunction with the competitive program [sic] we hold a large variety of debates and discussions on all aspects of media and filmmaking. The event program [sic] also builds in networking and case studies. Our aims are to provide an arena introducing creativity, new/established practitioners and those partners that can help assist in supporting and furthering people's ideas."
