BBC Footballers United WWI interactive drama

"I undertook the interaction design of the project on behalf of 100 Shapes. I worked with the visual designer to develop and refine the concept over several months, informed by feedback from the clients, producer and developers. In designing this piece we overcame unique creative challenges, including revealing the wealth of supporting content and archive material within the context of the linear drama to allow viewers to follow a a different journey to explore the deeper human narrative."

(Suzie Blackman, November 2014)

[A discussion about he design process of creating BBC History's interactive drama entitled Footballers United (2014), which was produced by Somethin' Else and 100 Shapes (who produced the website and interactive features). ]

.fluid: speculative proposal for a touch-friendly interface

"Imagine surfaces start to communicate with you. Your mobile gets goose skin when your lover texts you. Your WiFi controller changes the look and feel of it's surface according to different game situations. Your sofa gives you a short massage as a warm welcome when you return home from a hard day of work. Your laptop feels dried out when battery status is getting low.

.fluid is a concept study of an interacting, changing surface. While getting Input from the hands of its spectators, it's surface changes from liquid to solid, from plain to three–dimensional symmetric patterns. It provokes you to get in touch with it, to play with it's open interface and to collaborate with other people to find out how far you can push it.

This object was the result of the two week project »Talk to me–Form follows mood« supervised by Prof. Andreas Muxel at KISD (Köln International School of Design)."

Reflection In Action: a shared platform for design discussion

"Reflection In Action is a conversation between two friends and colleagues – Eilidh and Helle.

It started when Eilidh was advising Helle on her thesis project at Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID). The two of them had many, long, curious and insightful discussions where many ideas emerged about the world of design practice, the methods used and the challenges that accompany it.

After Helle graduated, she like Eilidh was hired by CIID to work within the Consultancy. After a long day of work during a research trip to the US, they found themselves in a dodgy college bar, drinking cheap beer and sketching the idea for Reflection In Action on a napkin. Eilidh and Helle wanted a place to house their ideas and discussion – A platform for reflection and action where they could develop a viewpoint on their daily creative practice and peruse their personal creative interests.

Reflection In Action is a place where they can show credit to the inspiring people they meet, the places they travel, the tools they use, and the experiences that influence who they are as designers."

(Helle Rohde Andersen and Eilidh Dickson)
