Shocking augmented reality experience greets London commuters

"Pepsi Max has gone straight to the top of this week's Viral Video Chart with its 'unbelievable bus shelter' which hoodwinked Londoners into thinking they were witnessing everything from an alien invasion to a loose tiger running in their direction.

The drinks brand rigged up a bus stop in the middle of central London with convincing digital technology which gave commuters the allusion that they were looking through a pane of glass to the world outside, when really they were seeing a digital display. A variety of awesome effects were then played onto the display to give the unsuspecting victims a fright."

Moscow metro launches 'Squat to ride' Sochi promotion

"As part of the zealous promotion for Russia's upcoming Sochi Olympics spectacular, the Moscow metro is offering an alternative to its ticket machines and their queues. It is combining a keep–fit theme and making an attractive offer to commuters; get some gain from the pain and ride the train for free."

Marshall McLuhan predicts 'world connectivity'

"We waste too much time racing from home to office, says Marshall McLuhan, an English professor at the University of Toronto who's becoming known internationally for his study on the effects of media. Society's obsession with files and folders forces office workers to make the daily commute from the suburbs to downtown. McLuhan says the stockbroker is the smart one. He learned some time ago that most business may be conducted from anywhere if done by phone. McLuhan's prescient knowledge: In the future, people will no longer only gather in classrooms to learn but will also be moved by 'electronic circuitry.'"

(Marshall McLuhan, 1965)

Medium: Television; Programme: CBC Television: Take 30; Broadcast Date: April 1, 1965; Hosts: George Garlock, Paul Soles; Guest(s): Marshall McLuhan; Duration: 3:25
