David Hockney Joiner Photography

"British artist David Hockney talks of his photographic work and its relationship to painting. Beside the pool at his Los Angeles home, he demonstrates the visual and mental processes behind the construction of a 'joiner' photograph, a compilation of colour photographs collaged together to reconstruct as one image, a sequence of simple events. Also shown are images of the paintings Los Angeles has inspired, interlaced with Hockney's commentary on the city's character."

The Adventures of Portland Bill

"Portland Bill was another wonderful children's adventure very much in the style of Postman Pat, Gran, The Herbs, and The Clangers. It concerned the day to day life of Portland Bill (Head lighthouse man of the Lighthouse Guillemot Rock). He is helped by the other lighthouse men Ross and Cromarty. The nearest village to the lighthouse was on the mainland and it was called McGuillycuddy. Here the boys are able to pick up supplies and interact with a whole load of characters. The adventures were by John Grace and were produced in 1983."

8mm behind-the-scenes home movie Making 'Dune' by Sean Young

"Dune, the motion picture was made in Mexico City, Mexico during the spring of 1983. Drafted by director David Lynch, Sean Young arrived on the set of Dune with her Super 8 camera in tow to shoot this documentary. Fresh off of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, Young joined the cast of Lynch's big–budget adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune, one of the most ambitious science fiction tales in all of pop culture. Produced by Dino De Laurentiis, Dune cost about $45 million to make and earned only about half of it back. But you'd never know Dune would become such a notorious film by watching the smiles on everyone involved."

OCEAN2012 Transforming European Fisheries

"Since its start in 1983, the European Union's Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) has failed to prevent overfishing. Over 25 years, short–term economic interest and political expediency has landed European fisheries in deep crisis."
